Riverdale Park, MD – Denizens Brewing Co. is pleased to announce the official DC area chapter Pink Boots Society collaboration and beer release for 2020. Pink Warrior was brewed on March 9th, honoring International Women’s Day, in collaboration with women representing more than 15 breweries and businesses. The Pink Warrior Pale Ale will be released in cans and on draft throughout Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia in April. The beer celebrates the importance of women in the beer industry and a portion of proceeds will benefit the Pink Boots Society.
“We’re incredibly proud to support the Pink Boots Society and bring awareness to the important role women play in helping this beer industry of ours thrive. Women are owners, brewers, managers, and of course beer drinks and supporters themselves. We proudly support women every day.”Julie Verratti (Co-Founder of Denizens Brewing Co.)
Celebrating Women in Beer
Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day was born from the members’ desire to take part in International Women’s Day (IWD) by raising the profile of women’s roles in the beer industry. Chapters and members of Pink Boots Society get together with supporting breweries and individuals, put on their pink boots and brew their chosen beer style. Pink Boots Society splits proceeds from sales of this collaboration brew with participating chapters. The revenue is applied to educational scholarships and programming for its members.
Denizens Brewing Co. was proud to host this year’s official DC area chapter collaboration brew day on March 9th in their Riverdale Park location. The brewery is co-owned by two women and continues to be a booming voice in growing the profile of women in the beer industry.
The special collaboration saw the Denizens team joined by women representing more than 15 different breweries from across the DC region to brew the Pink Warrior Pale Ale.
Participants in the brew day included 2 Silos Brewing Co., 3 Stars Brewing Company, Aslin Beer Co, Astro Lab Brewing, Beltway Brewing Company, Bike Lane Brewing, Black Dog Beer Shop, Bluejacket, Brass Tap Annapolis/Baltimore, DC Brau, Denizens Brewing Co., Lake Anne Brewhouse, Old Ox Brewery, Patent Brewing Co., Port City Brewing Company, Silver Branch Brewing Company, and Solace Brewing Co.
Spirits were high and the ale extra hoppy!
Pink Warrior Pale Ale
This delicious and visually stunning Pink Pale Ale features the 2020 Pink Boots Society Hop Blend (provided by Yakima Chief Hops), and is complemented with hibiscus and Warrior hops. The recipe itself was created in collaboration and offers a unique twist on a crowd pleasing favorite style.
The limited-edition ale will be released in April and can be found on draught throughout Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia. Find it in taprooms of the participating breweries as well as super supportive bars and restaurants. Cans, packaged by Denizens, will also circulate to your favorite shops.
The can art makes a beautiful pairing with the ale itself, designed by the talented Zoe Belyavsky of Aslin Beer Company. Labels were generously donated by Blue Label.
As is the tradition, last year’s brew day host, Beltway Brewing, will hold the official release party on April 17th. Denizens will then host next year’s release party.
About Denizens Brewing Co
Denizens is a proudly independent and family owned craft brewery with locations in Riverdale Park and Silver Spring, Maryland. Their beers can also be found fresh on shelves and on tap throughout Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia.
Co-founders Emily, Jeff, & Julie opened the doors to Denizens Brewing Co. in 2014 as the first production brewery in Montgomery County, MD. A place to enjoy great, locally made craft beer in a warm and welcoming space. They were critical in fighting for and succeeding in removing prohibition era laws that paved the way for Denizens and other local beer, wine, and spirit makers to exist and thrive. A successful first 5 years saw the company brew over 150 different beers, firmly establish an in-demand flagship lineup, build a loyal and engaged following, host unforgettable events as a space for the community, and in May 2019 they opened a second location in Riverdale Park to serve as a Production House & Taproom. This expansion has allowed them to meet the demand for an increased distribution arm throughout the DMV
